Try Before You Buy!
ChatKeepsake offers a fully functional free version so you can test all core features before purchasing Pro. We strongly encourage you to try the free version first to ensure ChatKeepsake works for your needs.
1. Refund Eligibility
1.1 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee
You are eligible for a full refund if:
- You purchased ChatKeepsake Pro within the last 7 days
- You are the original purchaser
- You request the refund through the proper channels (see Section 3)
Note: We do not require a reason for refund requests within the 7-day window. Your satisfaction matters most to us.
1.2 Valid Reasons for Refunds
While we offer no-questions-asked refunds within 7 days, common valid reasons include:
- Technical issues: The Software does not work on your system despite meeting system requirements
- Duplicate purchase: You accidentally purchased the Software multiple times
- Feature expectations: The Software does not perform functions you expected
- Changed mind: You no longer need the Software
- Billing error: You were charged incorrectly
1.3 Situations NOT Eligible for Refunds
Refunds will generally NOT be granted in the following cases:
- More than 7 days have passed since purchase
- You violated our Terms and Conditions
- You used the Software for its intended purpose and achieved the desired result (e.g., successfully exported conversations)
- You shared or distributed your license key to others
- You reversed charges through your bank or credit card company (chargeback) without contacting us first
- You did not test the free version before purchasing (free version is available for evaluation)
Important: If you initiate a chargeback without first requesting a refund from us, your license will be immediately revoked and you will be ineligible for support or future purchases.
2. Refund Timeframe

2.2 After 7 Days
Refunds requested after 7 days will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We may offer:
- Full refund (only in exceptional circumstances such as critical bugs that prevented use)
- Partial refund
- Technical support to resolve issues instead of refund
- No refund (if request does not meet our criteria)
Why 7 Days? Since ChatKeepsake offers a fully functional free version, you can thoroughly test the software before purchasing Pro. The 7-day window is intended for unexpected technical issues with Pro features, not for evaluation purposes.
3. How to Request a Refund
- Contact Support: Email us at support@chatkeepsake.com with "Refund Request" in the subject line
- Provide Information: Include your purchase email, order number, and reason for refund (optional but helpful)
- Await Response: We will respond within 2 business days
- Receive Refund: If approved, refunds are processed within 5-10 business days
3.1 Required Information
To process your refund request, please provide:
- Email address used for purchase
- Order number (from your Paddle receipt email)
- Date of purchase (if known)
- Brief reason for refund (optional)
4. Refund Processing
4.1 Processing Time
Once your refund is approved:
- Paddle processing: 1-2 business days
- Bank/card processing: 3-10 business days (varies by financial institution)
- Total time: Typically 5-10 business days from approval
4.2 Refund Method
Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for purchase:
- Credit/debit card purchases: Refunded to the same card
- PayPal purchases: Refunded to your PayPal account
- Other payment methods: Processed according to the payment provider's policies
Note: We cannot issue refunds to a different payment method or account than the one used for the original purchase.
4.3 Currency Fluctuations
If you purchased in a currency other than USD, the refund amount may differ slightly from the original charge due to currency exchange rate changes. We are not responsible for any losses due to currency fluctuations.
5. License Deactivation
Upon issuing a refund:
- Your Pro license key will be immediately deactivated
- Pro features will no longer be accessible
- You may continue using the free version of ChatKeepsake
- You must stop using the Pro version and remove it from all computers
6. Technical Issues vs. Refunds
Try Support First!
Many issues can be resolved quickly with technical support. Before requesting a refund, please let us try to help:
- Full Disk Access permission issues
- Database loading problems
- Export functionality concerns
- iPhone backup extraction errors
If we cannot resolve your technical issue within a reasonable timeframe (typically 3-5 business days), we will gladly process a full refund.
7. System Requirements
Before purchasing, please verify your system meets the requirements:
- macOS 12.0 (Monterey) or later
- Full Disk Access permission capability
- Sufficient storage space for database operations
Important: Refunds due to incompatible system requirements are only granted if the requirements were not clearly stated at the time of purchase, or if we misrepresented compatibility.
8. Free Trial Alternative
ChatKeepsake offers a free version with the following limitations:
- 250 message limit per conversation
- CSV export only (no PDF)
- Mac Messages database only (no iPhone backups)
We strongly encourage you to test the free version first to ensure ChatKeepsake meets your needs before purchasing Pro.
9. Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge with your bank or credit card company (chargeback) without first contacting us:
- Your license will be immediately revoked
- You will be banned from future purchases
- You will not be eligible for technical support
- We may pursue legal action to recover costs
Please contact us first! Chargebacks cost us significant fees and prevent us from helping you. We will always work with you to resolve any billing issues or concerns.
10. Exceptions and Special Cases
10.1 Extended Refund Period
In exceptional circumstances, we may extend the 30-day refund window, such as:
- You were hospitalized or dealing with a medical emergency
- A critical bug prevented you from using the Software
- We made significant changes to features you relied on
10.2 Partial Refunds
We may offer partial refunds in certain situations:
- Requests between 7-14 days after purchase (50% refund may be offered)
- You used the Software extensively before requesting refund
- Other circumstances evaluated on a case-by-case basis
11. Regional Variations
This refund policy complies with consumer protection laws in various jurisdictions. If your local laws require more generous refund terms, those terms will apply. Please note:
11.1 European Union
EU customers have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase. However, by downloading and using the Software, you may waive this right per EU Directive 2011/83/EU. 11.2 Australia
Australian customers are protected by Australian Consumer Law and have rights to refunds for major failures and reasonable timeframes for remedies.
